The Truman Story:
What has grown into a corporation that serves more than 1,000 clients over 13 states and 3 different countries, Truman and Associates began with a humble beginning in 1980 by the patriarch of our family Don Truman. While putting himself through night school as he worked as a sheriff's deputy, he began the groundwork that would create a multi-generation family business.
Today the family firm is still led by Don Truman with his wife, two sons and staff at his side. Between Don and his sons John and Michael, they have over 70 years of experience in the financial industry, hold state and federal licensing and finance degrees, have also served in multiple branches of the military and have law enforcement backgrounds. The firm has been part of the National Bureau of Ethics, the Better Business Bureau, National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers, and is extremely proud of the spotless compliance records of its advisors.
As a boy being raised on a dairy farm in Aurora, Mo, Don Truman always knew that wherever life took him he always wanted to come back to southwest Missouri. After many life experiences, unique opportunities and the proper timing, the Truman family all joined each other once again close to our father's childhood home. The Trumans have created strong roots in the area. In addition to being the active CEO of the firm, Don operates a cattle ranch within 10 miles of his father's original dairy farm with his wife of over 50 years, Debbie. The oldest son John is married to his wife Ryan of 20 years. They have four grown children, two of which carried on the family tradition serving in the United States Navy. Michael is married to Sara, who also served 6 years in the United States Army, has her Master's Degree, and is petitioned to be a Certified Public Bookkeeper; Michael and Sara are blessed to have two children.
We call the Ozarks home. We love the people and the sense of community it offers. It has blessed us with the ability to wake up every day and be part of an industry that not only allows us to help people through life's tough choices but more importantly become a part of their lives.
